The commissioned work Tethered is a playful, interactive installation that tackles the disconnect between efforts to preserve traditional Emirati games and the younger generation. Inspired by the UAE marble shooting game Attilah, the installation features rows of green marble balls set on top of copper rods. An air source in the ceiling causes the rods to gently sway in different directions. The movements of the marbles and the rods symbolise the action of the game, but no players embody its essence.
