non-human-assembly (2018) is a site-specific installation by Zedani that allows audiences to share his fascination with experimentation, materials and scientific processes by experiencing one of his works in progress. For this project, he first built a palette of herbs, flowers and other plants from across the MENASA region, which he collected from the Sharjah spice market. Then, in a designed experiment, he placed these plants next to a microbial community of yeast and bacteria in order to produce biofilms by means of a fermentation process. The result of the first experiment is on display alongside the ongoing process, which will keep unfolding throughout the exhibition.
