non-human-collaborators (2020), 9-channel video installation

non-human-collaborators (2020) is a 9-channel video installation by Ayman Zedani that explores the agency and vibrancy of matter through the lens of the new materialist philosophies. Zedani has been working with non-human agents including living matter, such as plants and bacteria, and non-living matter, like clay and salt to produce his works in both factual and fictional fashion. In 2020, Zedani hasn’t been able to access his studio, however, he couldn’t stop speculating on the type of happening that might emerge in a synthetic space and the different ways these elements could evolve together without human inhabitance. The installation amplifies these sceneries from his experience with these different collaborators and examines the distorted sense of time that we as humans have collectively experienced.
